A professional young couple, both product designers in their own successful business, require guidance with the design of their new home based in a new subdivision in Cambridge. They love the Japandi trend, (a design style mixing Japanese and Scandinavian elements), and this is to be combined with their pre-owned Mid-century pieces.
Peter and Andrea
A new contemporary, architectural high-end designed house with incredible attention to detail deserved bespoke furniture pieces. The clients wanted Italian-feeling design with quality materials. They needed pieces in the family room, lounge, and pool house.
Teri and Chris
Teri and Chris were in love with a contemporary yet rustic European design style. This included tones and colours with a warm and moody atmosphere, pure artisanal comfortable weathered materials, solid timbers for furniture, textured linens, leathers, sumptuous velvets, eggshell paints, woollen carpets and concrete-like tiles.
Mark and Trudy
To compliment the artisanal Matakana surrounds, the interior is chosen for a palette of warm, natural, timeless, contemporary rustic, textural tones, materials and finishes and custom-made pieces, and all should be made from top quality materials. We have chosen for some of the materials and products to have an artisanal handmade look.
Ginene and Jamie
A traditional black board & batten style home situated in an idyllic valley in the heart of Matakana's country side, with lovely views towards rolling hills and olive trees. Ginene and Jamie asked us to design, manufacture and install a new kitchen in the existing space, but were open to options about how to best achieve their vision.
Rachel and James
Making over the “back house” at Rachel and James’ stunning Omaha Beach holiday home to create extra space for hosting family and friends. This project required custom cabinetry, custom cushions, window furnishings, appliances, and decor.
Shelley, Pegasus Wetlands
This impressive architectural designed home is situated right on the border of the Pegasus Wetlands. It has a spectacular view on birdlife and beautiful New Zealand nature. The house is contemporary and has stark square and rectangular contrasting, masculine shapes, forms and materials. Colours are mainly white, grey and black, with natural bleached oak floor boards and toughened concrete walls and ceiling. Tall windows and sliders in silver grey aluminium are placed in high studs.
Hannah and Justin
A 450m² country home in need of TLC and an overwhelming renovation. The young, modern family found their newly purchased homes’ existing style choices were erratic and confusing. Our first stage of renovation has just been completed, involving the master bathroom. A future plan is developed to make sure that in the end flow and continuity in the design throughout the whole house is achieved.
Debbie and Rob
Debbie and Rob have a country home in North Canterbury. They asked Twin Rivers to design a bathroom where occasional use of a wheel chair was important. The bathroom should, of course, have all the features of a luxurious 5-star hotel bathroom and should definitely not look like a hospital bathroom.
Our own home
Our very own and newly built house, finished August 2016 and situated in rural North Canterbury. Overlooking rolling country side and 360° views of foothills, mountains, trees, and pasture, its a dream come true.
Tania and Grant
A new contemporary house built in Rangiora, Tanya and Grant's vision was raw material, sleek straight angles, and creative use of both light and lighting. The lighting is a stand out in this beautiful home, along with features that compliment the theme of the house such as handles, taps, and cabinetry, to name a few.
Gary and Shelley
Gary and Shelley were halfway through their design process when they asked for my help. They had have a designer make them a colour scheme but were bored with it and thought it was bland and ordinary. They were looking for a design that was based on the American Cape Cod style and would stand out from the usual. My starting point of the design were elements based on the maritime, yachts, ocean, wharfs with greyish weathered de-stressed timbers.
Ruth and Evan
An architecturally designed new build in rural North Canterbury; Ruth and Evan wanted a contemporary country home with a welcoming feel. What we achieved is a chic, understated, timeless interior with clean, crisp lines, quality materials and a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Phil and Lesa
Phil and Lesa wanted a contemporary country feel with clean, modern lines. They loved the Otago look of schist stone and earthy, stony, muddy colours, however didn't want anything too rustic. The client was a joiner by trade, so Twin Rivers worked together to create detail such as skirting, architraves, window sills, interior door hardware, coving, and joinery.
Lindy and Barry
Twin Rivers designed a walk in shower with ceiling high glass panels, which were inserted in the tiles of floor and walls and gib of ceiling, a custom made solid timber vanity unit to match the timber beams in the house, a beautiful freestanding lime stone bath with claw feet to match the chic classic style of the house and a neutral palette for colours of wall and floor tiles. The European tapware and rain shower finished the bathroom off beautifully.
Donald and Barbara
Donald and Barbara had just purchased a beautiful, big, two-storey country home on the North Canterbury coast, with spectacular views overlooking the ocean and Kaikoura Ranges. The natural environment with the sea with its horizon and different colours throughout the day and night was a constant inspiration.
Erik and Hanneke
The renovation for this home included all the wet areas; the main bathroom, bathroom en suite, toilet, and laundry. The house was built in the 90's, and the spaces looked tired and dated. To reduce costs, we left the plumbing and drainage in the same places as originally built.
Kate and Graeme
Kate and Graeme, their family, and their pets, live a busy North Canterbury lifestyle. Friends and family constantly visit on nearly a daily basis. They had collected many artworks, vases, and paintings (all in warm colours) from when they lived in Africa.
Christine and Lou
Lou and Christine purchased a little church in Woodend, which was in need of quite a bit of TLC. Earthquakes had caused quite significant damage, so restoration was a key part of the project. Twin Rivers assisted with the total restoration job, and advised on many occasions to make sure the character of the building wouldn't be compromised.
Janette and Mike
Janette and Mike's home in the Banks Peninsula country side needed a 21st century contemporary country look. The kitchen was previously a very small space, with minimal storage, hardly any natural light, and looked very dated. We managed the total renovation of the living, dining, kitchen space, toilet, and bathroom.
